A parent with a child

Why we exist

Because a parent with three children is not three customers.

She is one person with one Tuesday. Every product in this market is built as though her other children do not exist, and that single assumption shapes everything downstream of it.

Ask a parent in an Indian city how many school apps are on their phone. If they have more than one child, the answer is usually more than one — and each app was designed on the assumption that it is the only one.

So she has three passwords, three sets of notifications, three fee reminders arriving on different days, and no single place that answers the question she actually has, which is what her family's week looks like.

The schools are not at fault. They each bought a system that treats the school as the centre, because that is what every system does. The assumption is in the software, not in the school.

What changes once you build it the other way round

  • Separation has to be real

If a parent can hold two schools in one account, then the wall between those schools has to be enforced somewhere unforgettable. It is in the database, and thirty-six test suites prove it on every release.

  • The address has to decide

A school's own web address admits that school's own people and refuses everyone else, in that school's words. Otherwise the white-label promise breaks the first time a parent of another school types the address.

  • A sign-in is bound to a school, not a person

So a mother with a window open on each school's portal sees each school in its own window. One does not flip when she signs in to the other.

  • The school cannot see what a family buys

What a parent buys for their child at home is theirs. The school has no read path to it at all — not the purchase, not the usage. That is a data model decision, which is the only place such a promise can live.

And the ERP?

The school system is not a side project — it is most of the code, and it has to be genuinely good or no school will run their fees on it. But it is not the reason this exists.

It exists because the family view is worth building, and the family view is only worth anything if the school data underneath it is real.

Tell us where this argument is wrong.

If you run a school and think the family-first framing misunderstands your business, we would genuinely like to hear it.
