The sports day photographs, shared safely.
Albums a family can see for their own child, and a consent rule that decides it — a photograph of a child whose family has not allowed photographs is simply not shown, without anyone having to remember.
A photograph of somebody else's child in a WhatsApp group is a real problem.
It is also completely normal in Indian schools, and it is exactly the kind of processing the DPDP Act 2023 takes seriously when the subject is a child. Most schools have no way to know which families have objected, so they either share everything or share nothing.
What Edustians does about it
Each of these is built and working today. Where something is not, the questions below say so plainly.
Consent decides visibility, automatically
A family that has not allowed photographs of their child does not have those photographs shown. Nobody on the staff has to remember which family said what.
Withdrawal works backwards
A family that changes its mind is not asking for a favour. The photographs stop being shown from that moment, across every album.
Albums by event and by class
Sports day, annual day, a science exhibition — organised the way a parent would look for them.
Nothing leaves the school's own space
Files are served through the school's own portal to signed-in families. There is no public link to forward.
The questions worth asking a vendor
Including the ones where our answer is no. A school that buys on a promise and finds a gap does not renew.
- What if a photograph has thirty children in it?
- It is shown to the families who have consented, and the system will flag it for the office when a child in it has not. A group photograph is exactly where this goes wrong, so it is handled explicitly.
- Can parents download the photographs of their own child?
- Yes.
